Mission Possible
DPR Construction Inc.
DPR Meets the Demands of Tomorrow, Today
The explosion of Internet usage, especially in business, coupled with the boom in the telecommunications industry in recent years, has given birth to a whole new realm of projects. DPR has had the opportunity to start out on the ground floor in assisting clients with the construction of highly technical data centers that handle their Internet hosting, e-commerce and data processing requirements. In just the past few months alone, DPR has completed facilities for MCI/WorldCom, Charles Schwab, Sun Microsystems and E*Trade.
These mission-critical facilities must provide users with continuous up time to meet the needs of this "conducting business in real-time" industry. Whether the facility is a corporate data processing, e-commerce or co-location hosting facility, down time for any reason is not allowed. To address the demanding requirement of operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without failure, these facilities include mechanical and electrical systems to meet, at a minimum, N+1 redundancy. System redundancy is a vital part of facility design, any system failure or routine maintenance, that compromises operations could result in significant loss of revenue, compromise operations and tarnish reputations. Depending on the facility use and the impact of any possible down time, systems redundancy may be designed to N+2 or greater.
DPR uses its experience in the technically complex and demanding field of constructing microelectronic facilities to provide clients with cost-effective facilities, delivered on tight timeframes. To successfully complete these facilities, DPR joins the project team at the earliest stages of the design process, providing program management and preconstruction services. DPR's ability to offer detailed budgeting and schedule information, as well as mechanical and electrical system analysis, early in the design process plays a critical role in delivering the facility on time and within budget. At the completion of design, DPR develops a detailed commissioning and system certification program to weave a seamless transition from construction to facility end use.
Based on the continued growth of telecommunications, Internet usage
and e-commerce, along with DPR's proven success in meeting the needs of
this demanding and technologically complex industry through the completion
of several challenging projects, DPR has established a team to specifically
address the ever-changing, expanding data and communications market. This
team of professionals has been created to accomplish the following goals:
- Address specific requirements of the telecommunications, e-commerce and ISP industry.
- Establish baseline information on facility requirements, system costs and scheduling parameters.
- Develop relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers within the industry.
- Manage DPR's nationwide effort.
The group management staff, operating from the Redwood City office, is composed of David Buckel, Bill Helfrich and Michael Curreri and is supported by experienced and talented professionals in DPR's regional offices located throughout the nation.
